Post Road

There are few places in Nassau County that surprisingly transport you or make you feel like you aren't just stuck in a suburban sprawl.  One of these places is Wheatly Rd ---> Post Road in in Old Westbury.  Joe recently brought this route to my attention.  It is in between 107 and 495, is a conglomeration of 2 roads and should be traversed at night only.  This road stuck between two highly crowded thoroughfares winds past gated complexes, woodsy country clubs and a peaceful pond.  It probably only takes 10-15 minutes to drive it and there are dozens of roads like this up in northern Nassau County but this particular one is my favorite.  You will immediately feel the shift once you turn onto it, follow the curved lines and possibly catch yourself turning on your brights as your eyes play tricks on the shadows cast in front of you.  I would suggest it to anyone with free time and a love for good roads.
